Olympic Athlete Visit - Katie Stainton 11th October 2022
I hope the children have been telling you all about their session with Olympic Athlete Katie Stainton!
We all had a go at relay, hurdles and javelin, just a few of the events Katie takes part in during her heptathlons!
It was a brilliant day and Katie has inspired some of our young athletes with her story.
Katie Stainton:
After a fantastic season last year, Katie is one of the UK’s bright prospects and was destined to compete at this year's Commonwealth Games in Birmingham before a serious knee injury prevented her participation. She has competed in previous Commonwealth events in Sydney as a member of Team England and is the current holder of the British and English combined events title. As a heptathlete, she has an outstanding skill set across a range of events and therefore is able to provide intricate coaching on multiple activities. At only 27, Katie’s best days are still very much in front of her!
Katie gave an assembly in the morning and then took each class for a PE session throughout the day.
