  • Kids with Bricks Club

    Our Kids with Bricks Club was full of excitement this week! The current theme is Romans. Children have a huge amount of fun while developing strategy, resilience and confidence skills. Winning entry photos are uploaded to the Kids with Bricks website, voted by Ms Roberts, the club leader and all of the children in the club. A special well done to Poppy, Leo and Henri whose group build was a Gladiators and Colosseum! Previous week winders were of Roman Arches and look amazing! Congratulations all round!

  • Digital Leaders 2024

    Following applications and interviews our New Digital Leaders team has been appointed.

    What is a 'Digital Leader'?

    A Digital Leader is a pupil who is part of a Digital Leaders Team within a school, whose role it is to support the use and to further the development of ICT in school. Pupils are then given training and support to develop specific areas of ICT expertise. Once a pupil gains an area of expertise, staff may then request the use of the Digital Leader for a variety of different roles.

  • WNSP QuickSticks Hockey

    Congratulations to our Year 3 and 4 pupils who took part in the SSP Quicksticks Festival hosted at Pelicans HC last week.30 School teams took part in either the Cup Competition or the non-scoring Fun Festival and a great day of Hockey was had by all.

  • National Poetry Day

    This year's theme is 'Your Voice Counts'. At Upwell Academy, we place great importance on celebrating all things literary.

    On Thursday 3 October it was National Poetry Day, an annual mass celebration to encourage all to enjoy, discover and share poetry. This year, the theme was “Your Voice Counts’’ and this was interpreted through verse in a wide and wonderful number of ways.

  • Harvest Festival

    Despite the very autumnal weather and venue change, we celebrated this week with a wonderful Harvest Festival assembly. We were delighted to be joined by our Academy Committee Chair, Val Cook who was very impressed by the pupil readers and whole school singing. Mrs Kirk, our music lead, led us in our thanks for the harvest and for all the good things we are lucky enough to have. Children shared poems, prayers and songs and it was an uplifting experience for us all.

  • Parents' Reading Workshop

    Thank you to the parents and children that joined us this week for Mrs Fisher’s Reading Workshop. This was an opportunity to find out more about our continued plans for developing reading outcomes for all pupils and our initiative for Reading for Pleasure. Mrs Fisher has successfully led English at Upwell for over 6 years with huge advances in improving our Reading Curriculum offer.

  • Every Day Counts!

    This year we will continue to celebrate 100% attendance at the end of each term and children can earn a bronze certificate at the end of term 1, silver at the end of term 2 and gold award and 100% badges and certificates at the end of the school year. Children who earn the gold badge will automatically join Miss Ellington's 100% attendance team. Every week we celebrate the class with the best attendance in Key Stage 1 (including Reception) and Key Stage 2. The winner each week gets a certificate, awarded in assembly, which can be proudly displayed in their classroom. A huge congratulations to our children that were presented with their badges this week!

  • Active & Safe School Travel

    Following a year of implementing our NCC Active and Safe Travel program, we exited to share that we have been successful in our bid for the Norfolk County Council’s £5000 grant to support the next phase of the initiative!

    Last year, with the support of King’s Lynn Police, our Pupil Leadership Team led on the initiative which included promotion and debate through assemblies, class discussions, NCC Bikeability scheme, poster making and more.
