Theme 1 – Stone Age to Iron Age

Focus – Science- skeletons and fossils. History- British History Stone Age to Iron Age.

English

Read a range of non-fiction texts by researching the Stone Age to the Iron Age.

Retrieve and record information from non-fiction books by researching the Stone Age to the Iron Age. Discuss reading with others by researching the Stone Age to the Iron Age.

Plan to write based on familiar forms by creating an information booklet about the Stone Age to Iron Age.

Maths

Measure simple perimeter of settlements.

 

Compare and order numbers up to 1000-

Science

Animals: Identify that humans and some other animals have skeletons and muscles for support, protection and movement. Identify that animals, including humans, need the right types and amount of nutrition, and that they cannot make their own food-Otzi the ice man. Describe in simple terms how fossils are formed when things that have lived are trapped within rock.

Geography

Settlements- Rivers

Study a region of the UK by studying Shelton.

Art

Use sketchbooks to collect, record and evaluate fossil rubbings and repeating patterns. Begins to add detail to their artwork through the use of colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space. Begins to develop ideas by experimenting with different media and materials, often following a suggested line of enquiry.
