Our Local Governing Body (LGB) Members :
Alan Culley – Chair of Governors
I have been a governor for over five years, much of that time as Chair of Governors. I became a school governor because I strongly believe that a village school should be at the heart of the community. A strong and successful school is one of the major factors that make our village an attractive place to live. We owe it to our young people to ensure that they have the very best start in life and can achieve their full potential.
Haidee Norman – Principal
Lynne Radford – Staff Governor
Fiona Saul – Trust Appointed Governor
Being part of a village community is very important to me, in particular, I believe this helps give children a sense of belonging that stays with them all their lives. I am an experienced teacher of 16-18 year olds and hope to draw upon this experience as a governor. The children at Upwell are happy and well supported in their academic education, with high expectations and quality learning experiences. There are a wealth of activities which give the children the opportunity to develop their self confidence and sense of self. As a governor my aim is to ensure that this continues in the forthcoming years.
Emma Culley – Trust Appointed Governor
Val Cooke – Trust Appointed & SEND Governor
Sarah Thorpe – Trust Appointed Governor
Faye Harnwell – Elected Parent Governor
I am a parent of two young boys that attend upwell academy. I decided to put myself forward for the position of parent governor as I have a keen interest in the education of the pupils , their welfare and how the school is run. My interests are broad but going forward are keyed toward outdoor learning, the curriculum, school council and behaviour. At home my sports degree was my platform for sports therapy and massage and I currently work as a therapist now. I hope that I can do justice to my appointment and successfully carry out my duties for the Academy.
Stuart Knott – Elected Parent Governor
Living in Upwell with its fantastic community spirit, I am committed to help our children gain the very best education possible. I have a scientific, engineering background and can offer support where required in respect to both project management and health and safety. I also see the local environment and village surroundings as a fantastic resource to inspire our children. As an elected parent governor I want to make a positive difference to the life chances of every child attending Upwell Academy.
